What You Need to Know
New Medicaid Work Requirements
Beginning January 1, 2027, some New Yorkers enrolled in Medicaid may need to demonstrate that they are working, attending school, participating in job training, or engaging in other qualifying activities to maintain their coverage.
Requirements and exemptions may vary depending on an individual's circumstances. Visit the official New York State resources below for information about eligibility and upcoming changes.
Medicaid Renewals and Notices
Changes may also affect how individuals renew their coverage, receive notices, and respond to requests for information or documentation.
It is important to read all notices carefully and follow the instructions provided.
How You Enrolled in Medicaid Matters
NY State of Health
Individuals who enrolled through NY State of Health should maintain their accounts, make sure their contact information is current, and watch for notices and requests for information.
Local Department of Social Services (DSS)
Individuals who enrolled through their local Department of Social Services should continue working with that office and pay close attention to the notices they receive. Their renewal and documentation processes may differ from those of individuals enrolled through NY State of Health.
