Lloyd Gallup was first helped by Catholic Charities after the flooding in Ilion in 2013. As a result of his incredible story, U.S. Rep. Richard Hanna found out that Lloyd was owed five medals for his service between 1942 and 1945 and moved quickly to fix that. Last week, Senator James L. On Tuesday, Catholic Charities recognized several Fort Plain residents for their efforts in rebuilding after flooding devastated the area in 2013. Those honored include Fort Plain's former Mayor, Guy Barton, who died this summer. Barton was considered instrumental in the recovery efforts, and became an advocate for the people of Fort Plain after the floods.

Catholic Charities of Delaware, Otsego, and Schoharie Counties recently became a subcontractor for the Nutrition Outreach and Education Program (NOEP).
As a subcontractor, Catholic Charities works with clients to provide Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) information and application assistance.

Summer campers at Sunnyside in north central Troy got a special treat in July when ballerina Olga Aru from the Moscow Ballet came to give dance, movement, and cultural lessons. The program was part of the Moscow Ballet's "New Horizons" program, which gives underserved children knowledge and exposure to the arts. The Sunnyside children will be treated to a ticket to the Nutcracker performance in December when Olga and the Moscow Ballet return to the Capital District to perform at the Palace [...]
